Architectural concrete blocks are similar to regular concrete blocks but have a decorative finish. They come in a number of unit styles like: Rock Face units, Splyt Face units, Corduroy units and Break Off units.

Architectural Concrete Block
For those who want blocks that can be left exposed, architectural blocks are the answer. These are essentially the same as conventional concrete blocks, except they resemble polished granite, look like hand-hewn stone or tile or have other decorative finishes.
Architectural concrete blocks are ideal for a house with a walk-out basement, where considerable foundation wall can be seen because they can eliminate the need for brick veneer, stucco or other exterior finishes. Exposed architectural concrete blocks look good as interior walls, too.

Rock Face Units
|
The Rock Face Unit is a non-scored exposed aggregate face unit, which can be economically built into a strong, dynamic wall. The massive craggy surface is reminiscent of the granite-clad buildings of the past. This highly-textured architectural concrete block is available in a variety of built-in colors as well as integral water repellency. These units can be laid in either stacked or running bond.

Splyt Face Units
|
The Splyt Face Masonry Unit has an eight-fluted exposed aggregate face with 1/4" deep grooves, which makes it a very flexible and versatile product. Its versatility as a practical material includes interior and exterior usage. These units can be laid in both stacked and running bond. Painting or integrally coloring this unit adds additional versatility to the natural gray color. An integrally water-repellent unit is also available.

Corduroy Units
|
The Corduroy Unit has an eight-fluted exposed aggregate face unit with 7/8" deep grooves, which can be employed in an unbroken wall surface and still provide style and interest. The recessed vertical grooves and textured face provide additional visual drama as light changes. Exceptional acoustical relief is inherent in the design, making this an ideal block for applications as varied as auditorium interiors and highway sound barrier walls.

Break Off Units
|
The Break Off Unit unit is a four-fluted exposed aggregate face unit with 2" deep grooves, which provide a richness of texture under varying lighting conditions. The deep grooves of this concrete masonry unit form a vertical contrast to the horizontal lines of the other masonry units. The effect is one of massive columns.
